OCD Support Group
“Helping to support OCD sufferers and their
carers”
WELCOME TO YOUR FIRST MEETING
Information
for New Visitors
The Group meets on
the 3rd Saturday of each month at 1.30pm to 4.00pm in rooms at St Martin in the
Bull Ring, Birmingham, Edgbaston Street, Birmingham,
B5 5BB (Except August and December, which are reserved for Social Events).
We are an Informal
User-led Group of Volunteer Carers and OCD Sufferers (established in 1999) who
offer a friendly welcome to all who have an interest in OCD and its related
Disorders and aim to help each other through mutual support and information.
Please note that
there is a nominal entrance fee of £3 per person payable at the door, this goes
towards the cost of room hire.
In some meetings we
have Guest Speakers on OCD Issues, others we have Open Discussion Meetings,
where everyone has the opportunity to share any problems or experiences in
managing their OCD Symptoms.
We never put anyone
“on the spot” and Visitors are welcome to take part as much or as little as
they feel comfortable with, at a pace to suit everyone. However, the maximum
benefit may be gained from actively taking part in discussion.
We aim to
facilitate Group and One to One discussion on OCD related symptoms.
There
are normally about 16 to 28 people at each meeting, some are regulars, and
others just attend occasionally.
The
meetings are open to Mental Health Professionals, OCD Sufferers and their
Careers, Families and friends.
All that we ask is
that those present adhere to our Meeting Guidelines with
regard to Confidentiality, Politeness, Understanding and Respect towards
others.
If, after the
meeting, New Visitors wish to support the Group and consider Membership, please
contact the Group Chairman, who will provide a New Membership Form.
John Hinckes, Facilitator (October 2022).
